Phenomenon 'Pansy'
Brindle Dog - Dec 1999
Staplers Jo x Castlerea Delia
We lost 'Joey' (pictured right) as a result of water diabetes. He was a lovely  friendly brindle dog from Delias first litter. Joey only ran about six races, in his first few he was very green but in his last 2 or 3 he began to run really well and was shaping up into what would have been a successful top grade maybe open racer. Joey was my favourite out of his litter, and the most docile too, a greyhound we will always remember. xXx.

Special Sapphire - 'Sapphire'
White & Blue Bitch - August 2001
Staplers Jo x Castlerea Delia
We lost Sapphire in a freak accident that occured one day when she was playing in the field with her littermates. We had never met Sapphire but when we found out the news we were very upset, but were reassured because  we knew her short life was a good one because she was cared for by Lionel, Sandra and James Mannering (who I must add are the key to most of our success). We will always remember Sapphire and have lots of photos of her as a pup doing all the things that puppies love doing.xXx.
Special Treat - 'Pansy'
White & Brindle Bitch - Dec 1999
Staplers Jo x Castlerea Delia
Pansy was a real favourite of ours, not only was she as genuine as they come, a great racer and the most sweet natured greyhound ever but she was the only dog that we still owned from Delias first ever litter, which was a very special litter to us. We had plans to breed from Pansy, she really was a one in a million bitch, she had the perfect attitude, was a lovely size and well built, she had early pace and stayed six bends, and to top it all off she was extremely well bred. Sadly while she was racing in Ireland (while we waited for her to come in season) she got knocked over and tore all the ligaments in her leg, initially the vet recomended she was put to sleep as there was no way to help her, she was given some strong painkillers and went back to the kennels until the next day when she could be examined properly.

After a more thorough examination we were told that she could be operated on, and although she would never race again, and would have a permanent limp, she would lead a perfectly normal and happy life. So she was operated on, and the surgery went well, it was a 4 hour procedure and she remained fine throughout, but as the vet waited for her to come out of the anastethic she stopped breathing and despite the best efforts by the vet, nothing could be done to revive her and she died.Just as we thought everything would be fine, it all changed, a real gem who will never be forgotten.xXx.
Castlerea Delia - 'Delia'
Blue Bitch - June 1993
Fionntra Highway x Another Banner
It is with great sadness that Castlerea Delia had to be put to sleep on January 12th 2005 at the ripe old age of 11 (would have been 12 in June). She hadnt been right for a few days prior, and was beginning to bloat, she was taken to the vet, who diagnosed she had a swelling inside which was inoperable, and that the kindest thing to do was to let her go peacefully and prevent further suffering.

Delia has been a fantastic bitch, she has thrown winner after winner, most noteably Special Trick, and we have had many happy times all thanks to her. She spent her days as a brood and her retirement at Rosegreen Kennels, where she was cared for by Lionel, Sandra and James Mannering. Delia was doted on by them, and whatever Delia wanted she got, whether it be freshly cooked chicken or simply a good old fuss. Delia was not only a good racer and a great brood, but also a fantastic addition to any kennel, if there was a pup who was misbehaving in the kennel, after a few days with Delia, they were as good as gold, there was something special about her though, as she never growled at them, just showed them the right thing to do and they followed.

Delia spent her last few weeks in the house, where she became a part of the family enjoying the home comforts and of course the radiator and the extra bits of food. The care and dedication Lionel and Sandra gave to Delia throughout her time there was beyond comparison. Although it was very sad, it was for the best, and we know Delia had the best of everything at Rosegreen.Delia may be gone but will never be forgotten, her great legacy will live on through her sons, daughters, grand-daughters, grand-sons and so on! Rest In Peace.xXx.
