Black
Bitch - Spiral Nikita x Castlerea
Delia - October 2000 |
|
|
|
Sparky is an extremely well bred bitch, and
one of only two bitches from one of the best open race litters in recent
years.
Sparky herself is an Open race winner over 640m,
and a winner of races ranging from 415m-640m. One of the friendliest
characters you are likely to meet, Sparky is a great stamp of a bitch
with a lovely temperament.
She was retired after a return to the track
proved (as expected) that her broken toe would hinder her race ability.
Her
littermates include
Special Trick £10,000 Victor Chandler Grand Prix Winner, Gymcrack
Runner Up, Gordon Hodson Puppy Memorial Winner, Ballyregan Bob Memorial
Winner, Sussex Cup Finalist, English Derby Semi Finalist, Irish Derby
Quarter Finalist, St Leger Finalist & Corn Cuchullian Finalist. Retired
to stud.
Connoisseur Winner 1st Round English Derby 2003 FTON, Winner Jem
Racing Super Paws, Golden Crest Finalist & Racing Post Maiden Derby
Finalist (beaten favourite).
Shaun

Sparky is sired by Spiral Nikita, a
fantastic racer and stud dog who is now establishing himself as a
fantastic damsire too. His daughters have thrown the likes of Droopys
Maldini, Droopys Marco, Airtech Rapid & Like a Shot.
She is out of top open race producer
Castlerea Delia, who has thrown numerous open racers and top grade
winners in all her litters. Delias offspring have won opens at 23
different tracks and she finished 2nd in the Open Race Dams table
(regularly ranked in the top 5).

Sparkys Pups
1st Litter - Sired by Geldrops
Touch, Born December 2004
Unfortunately Sparkys entire 1st litter were all
very nervous, there were 6 of them in total (2 dogs and 4 bitches), all
fawn or black. We kept a fawn bitch 'Cleo' (Special Chick) but she never
made it as a racer, as her cautious personality got the better of her.
Two of the litter did make it to the race track,
Geldrops Shadow who races in Belgium and Geldrops Spark who won the
Geldrop Puppy Derby and is now retired to stud in France.
2nd & Final Litter - Sired by
Droopys Kewell, Born October 2005
Sparkys second and last litter was
a total of 7 pups (5 dogs and 2 bitches) in a variety of different
colours; Blue, Black, White & Blue, plus a White dog!
All of the litter made the
race-track, except for a Black dog 'Beanz' (Special Effect) who was
somewhat a peculiar character. He would very much have liked to race but
sadly he just was not very fast, so we homed him.
Star of the litter Ants Gunner,
known as Patch to his friends was top grade at Walthamstow and the
highlight of his career was winning an Open Race in a time of 29.05.
Patch came off sore at Harlow in late 2008, so has gone home to live it
up as a pet with his owners.
As well as 'Beanz' we also kept 'Sapphie
(Special Skylar) a very mischievous white & blue lady. Saph had ability,
but her immature and playful attitude to everything she did meant that
she was never destined to fulfil the potential she had. So after a 17
race long career (in which she did Win a race I must add!) she too was
sofa bound!
In late 2007 we
decided it would be best to retire Sparky from the breeding paddocks and
find her a home. Thanks to Joy at WGOA, Sparky met her new owner Janice
and they clicked instantly...
